Tour de France WINE DINNER with Adrian Chalk Selections!
Thursday October 24, 2024 5:30 AM - 8:00 PM
Old Inn on the Green, New Marlborough
We are delighted to invite you to join us and special guest speaker, Adrian Chalk, Importer
Adrian represents two dozen family owned, organically farmed vineyards from Napa, France and Italy.
For this evening Adrian will guide us south from Champagne, winding down through Sancerre, Burgundy and the Rhone before cutting west to Margaux. In addition to Adrian, Keith Bader of Nejaime’s Wine has taken two of the wines from the evening and made vinegars the chef will feature in the paired dish.
Our first and last stops are projects of a power couple in the French wine scene, Julie and Xavier Gonet-Médeville. The couple’s self named Gonet-Médeville produce’s Champagne from fruit they grow in Grand Cru and 1er Cru vineyards Xavier inherited. Their Grand Cru Extra Brut Rosé is a fresh and bright opener on our journey towards their other entry to the evening. The Couple purchased Chateau des Eyrins in 2008 from Chateau Margaux cellar masters. Their two hectares are surrounded by Chateau Margaux vines. The 2019 Adrian describes as a “Magic Carpet to Bordeaux’s Cabernet country”.
The winery Alphonse Mellot, has similar familial ties as Gonet-Médeville. The founding Alphonse Mellot was granted a license to export wine in 1881. Since then every first born son has been named Alphonse and taken the reins of the storied winery. Their La Moussierre comes from a single vineyard in the upper Sancerre and is a perennial house favorite. Domaine Jessiaume is the familial outlier of the evening having been sold twice in the past 20 years. Both purchases have brought innovation, modernization and a focus on quality over volume. The 2022 Chardonnay we’ll taste is a plush and vibrant expression from the Auxey-Duresses vineyards.
Domaine Brusset was founded in 1947 by André Brusset and is now operated by his grandson, Larent. The family vineyards cross 5 appellations growing numerous red and white noble grape varieties. From south facing Grenache terraces in Gigondas Les Hauts de Montmirail savory and robust cut with a firm minerality.
Come enjoy these fabulous wines paired to the inspired cuisine of Chef J.P. Carr. A memorable evening we look forward to sharing with you!
